Main Objectives

Our goal is to raise awareness for the American commercial fisherman and their communities — the forgotten endangered species of the sea. We want to give fishermen a platform to share their stories, struggles, and pride.

Rules

  • Video Format: Must be in vertical Instagram format (phone held upright). No wide-screen videos.
  • Length: No more than 30 seconds long.
  • Number of Submissions: Up to 3 videos per fisherman. Captains and crew can submit a total of 3 each from one boat, with a maximum of 9 videos per boat.
  • Apparel Requirement: Must be wearing a Fishery by Trade shirt with the official sunset art.
  • Deadline: We will accept and post videos up to January 1, 2026.

Winner Selection

  • After January 1, 2026, the video on Instagram with the most likes will receive a free gear bundle: hat, hoodie, and a $100 Amazon gift card.
  • The top 3 most-liked videos will be eligible to collaborate with us on three limited-edition t-shirt designs featuring the fisherman’s boat, fishery, or related artwork.
  • We will have the final say on artwork, but the fisherman’s input will be highly regarded.
  • Winners will receive 5% royalties from all shirt sales featuring their artwork. After one year, shirt continuation will be negotiated.

The Point

We are doing this to raise public awareness for the American commercial fisherman and their communities. Fishermen are encouraged to share facts or opinions on how globalization, corporate greed, and politics have affected them and their fisheries.
Submissions should be respectful. If this offends anyone — go watchDeadliest Catch. We are a true, unfiltered commercial fishing brand and will always remain that way.

Acceptable Topics

  • Quotas traded by wealthy entities
  • Windfarm expansion impacts
  • Globalization
  • The corporate misuse of the term “sustainable”

The Reason

I, Kyle Jackson, have traveled through fleets ranging from large operations to mom-and-pop boats. Although I have no prior connection to the industry, I was accepted, challenged, and introduced to some of the most impressive — yet unknown — people in America.
Over many journeys, I have seen my idols suffer through financial and legal hardships. I want my channel to be a chance for change — by showcasing fishermen and giving them a voice.
Our website,fisherybytrade.com, is a place to find seafood and other local USA fisherman-based products through dropshipping. You can find everything from gear to fresh, truly sustainable seafood.
